Charlie Blouse is knitted entirely in knit and purl, giving a simple but elegant pattern reminiscent of English rib. Although similar, the pattern is actually much easier to knit, but increases and decreases create beautiful lines that give an effect similar to English rib.

The sweater has so-called "European shoulders", which means that you start knitting at the top of the back at the neck, where you increase for the shoulders on each row. Then you knit straight down to under the arms, after which you pause the stitches on the back. The front piece is knitted first on the left side and then on the right side, until you reach under the neckline. Then you gather the front piece, and continue knitting on both the front and back piece in one round until the sweater reaches the desired length. When the body is finished, stitches are picked up along the sleeve opening, and a small sleeve dome is formed with circular needles. The sleeves are knitted in the round with decreases along the underside of the sleeve, and finally the work is finished by knitting the neckline.

Gauge:
